If you are a small or medium size business that has dedicated server needs but can’t afford the cost, you have the option of Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting. VPS is a great alternative and an affordable solution when you need a dedicated IP address or other dedicated server features. InMotion VPS plans start at $39.95 per month up to $149.95 per month. InMotion’s “best value” is a $75 per month plan that offers 5 dedicated IP addresses, 768 MB of dedicated memory and 2 GB of burstable memory. 1,000 GB of file transfer is provided each month and you get custom firewall, SSH access, and critical backups included as well.
Business Class Hosting
InMotion provides web hosting for all sizes of business customers. For a very reasonable monthly price a small business can get online with all the typical features found for this class of service. InMotion offers 3 plans for small business class starting at $6.95 per month, up to $18.95 per month.
Each plan offers unlimited disk space and unlimited file transfer. And all plans offer the same shared features, including a premium website builder, free new domain registration or transfer, and 24/7 support. Each plan also gets email features such as aliases, autoresponders, and forwarders. And each email plan is compatible with Blackberry mobile device.
All plans get the same design features such as FrontPage extensions, Dreamweaver, and Adobe Go Live support. Four image galleries are available, as blog plug-ins for WordPress, Nucleus, and Geeklog. Streaming interactive media for video, audio, Flash, and Shockwave is also included.
Business Class Differences
Where the three business class plans differ are in features such as e-commerce. The basic $6.95 plan does not have any shopping cart feature, while the top two tier plans do have the option for OS Commerce, Cube Cart, and Zen Cart shopping software. All plans do have a merchant account available with shared SSL and Google checkout.
And while most other rated web hosting services offer unlimited hosted and parked domains, InMotion offers only 2 to 16 active website domains. And only the top tier plan offers unlimited parked domains while the bottom two plans are allowed 6 and 26 respectively.
Unlimited or high number of MySQL databases are also a big feature for most web hosting services. However, InMotion offers only 2, 50, and 200 MySQL databases for their three plans.
The Personal Plan
Customers who want only a personal website or blog can get the personal plan for only $3 to $5 per month with a 24 month minimum upfront purchase. This plan has very limited features such as 100-200 GB of space, and 1-2 GB or monthly file transfer. Though you get a free domain registration, don’t expect InMotion to help you build your website. You can get full dynamic scripting support and even e-commerce shopping cart software on the higher personal plan, but don’t expect any plug-ins, blog support, or design features with the cheapest plan.
